SPACE wins Preserve Missouri Award for Cupples 9 renovation

We’re pleased to announce we’ve won a prestigious Preserve Missouri Award from Missouri Preservation for our role in the renovation of the Cupples 9 warehouse in beautiful downtown St. Louis.

After the tragic demolition of Cupples 7 in 2013, only eight of the original 20 massive buildings in the Cupples Station complex remain. In 2011, the Koman Group began renovation on the 184,000 square foot Cupples 9, a structure that had been vacant for 20 years. They hired SPACE as the Core/Shell Architect, and — in addition to our architectural services — we selected furnishings, art, and accessories in the public areas, which allowed us to maintain sensitivity to the existing features of the historic structure. Today, the building represents the essence of historic renovation and adaptive reuse. The project utilizes state and federal historic tax credits and earned LEED Silver Certification from the US Green Building Council. The building is currently 99% leased with most tenants signing long-term leases.

SPACE Cap’n Tom Niemeier will be in Jefferson City at the March 6th ceremony to accept this distinguished award.
