St. Louis’ infinitely delicious hometown favorite Pi Pizzeria has announced their expansion to Miami, and they have selected SPACE to design the new restaurant. To be dubbed Pi’ami, the South Beach outpost will be located in a desirable area that is home to locals and tourists alike. The space at 124 Collins Avenue was a former Italian restaurant, and is just blocks away from the beach.

“We’ve enjoyed working with the Pi team on Pi MX and Pi Cincinnati, and we’re excited we can partner with them on another beautiful restaurant,” said SPACE topper Tom Niemeier. Tom and designer Juan Devia traveled to Miami mid-July to survey the space. One of the challenges will be to create a raised dining patio that works with the building’s existing window-studded façade.

SPACE is finishing work on Pi Cincinnati, which is scheduled to open in late September. Pi Cincinnati is in the newly-renovated AT580 tower, and will feature a contemporary look similar to that of Pi at the MX downtown St. Louis, for which SPACE won a 2012 American Institute of Architects St. Louis Award of Merit.
